Some kids, with all the best intentions just have trouble paying attention for a whole piano lesson. It may be that they have special needs such as ADD, ADHD, or ASD; or they might just be naturally wriggly piano students.
For students who need an extra push to focus during lesson time, I modified my fishy assignment sheet (find the original here).
Now it gives them a clear structure for the 30 minutes a week they spend with me. I fill in the top section with stickers, and if they get all their stickers the rest of the lesson is for their choice of activity (normally Piano Maestro on the iPad!).
Do you have a student in mind who could benefit from this approach?
This sheet has been working a treat with my student who has ADD. I’ve used it in the last few lessons, and it gives clear goals to achieve. Plus a reward he simply loves at the end!
If you need more assignment sheet options – this roundup post is the perfect place to start.
Nicola is there anyway you could post an editable version of this here or on the VMT website? I am trying to save my assignment sheets in google docs, but I love this one for the younger kids. Let me know when you get a chance!
Hi Michele! Glad you like this one! I can’t post an editable version unfortunately because of the way this was created.
